Royal Step (“we,” “us,” “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. It is intended to align with UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data (the “PDPL”).

1. Who We Are

Royal Step provides device repair and related services in the UAE and operates the website royalstep.ae. For the purposes of the PDPL, we act as the data controller of the personal data described below.

2. Personal Data We Collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Identity and contact details – your name, phone number, email address.
  • Device and service information – device make, model, serial/IMEI number, reported fault, repair history, passcodes you choose to share to enable a repair.
  • Transaction details – the services you request, amounts charged, and payment method (we do not store full card numbers).
  • Website data – information collected automatically when you visit royalstep.ae, such as IP address, browser type and pages viewed, where applicable.
  • Communications – messages you send us by phone, email, messaging apps or our website.

We collect only the data we need to provide our services and run our business.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data to:

  • Assess, carry out and manage device repairs and related services;
  • Provide quotations, invoices and updates on your repair status;
  • Contact you about your device, including when it is ready for collection;
  • Handle warranty claims and after-sales support;
  • Keep records as required for accounting, tax and legal purposes;
  • Improve our services and the royalstep.ae website;
  • Send you service-related or, with your consent, marketing communications.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data on one or more of the following bases under the PDPL:

  • Your consent, which you may withdraw at any time;
  • The performance of a contract with you (carrying out the repair you requested);
  • Compliance with our legal obligations under UAE law;
  • Our legitimate interests in operating and improving our business, where these do not override your rights.

5. Device Passcodes and Data on Your Device

To repair certain devices we may need a passcode or PIN. We use it only to perform the repair and to test the device. We do not access, copy or use your personal files beyond what is necessary for the repair. We strongly recommend you back up and, where possible, remove sensitive data before handing over your device, as repairs can result in data loss.

6. Sharing Your Data

We do not sell your personal data. We may share it only with:

  • Service providers who help us operate (e.g. parts suppliers, IT, payment processors, accounting), under appropriate confidentiality obligations;
  • Authorities or regulators where required by law or to protect our legal rights.

7. International Transfers

Your data is generally processed within the UAE. If we transfer personal data outside the UAE (for example, to a cloud or software provider), we will take steps consistent with the PDPL to ensure an adequate level of protection.

8. Data Security

We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. How Long We Keep Your Data

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this Policy, including to meet warranty, accounting, tax and other legal requirements, after which we securely delete or anonymise it.

10. Your Rights

Subject to the PDPL, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you;
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • Request deletion of your data in certain circumstances;
  • Object to or restrict certain processing;
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • Request portability of data you provided to us;
  • Lodge a complaint with the UAE Data Office.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 13. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

11. Cookies

The royalstep.ae website may use cookies or similar technologies to function correctly and understand how the site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings. [If you use analytics or marketing cookies, describe them and provide a consent banner.]

12. Children

Our services are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without appropriate consent. If you believe we have done so, please contact us.

13. Changes and Contact

We may update this Policy from time to time; the current version is always available on royalstep.ae.
